Mrs. Goodman’s Baking Company – (High Street Bakery Hop, Stop #3)

There is no Mrs. Goodman at Mrs. Goodmans – actually the owner is a man, Lee Alderman. However, let me assure – everything is GOOD. One feature I always appreciate – free samples – so you can take a few of the the baked goods for a tastebud test drive before buying. The samples are located in a (very heavy) glass cover on the counter and there are many small selections to choose from.

This bakery has the usual assortment of pies, cakes, cookies and such. The best item I have sampled (employees confirm this as the fan favorite) are the scones – in particular – the Peaches and Cream Scone. I have tried it a couple times and felt just peachy each time. The scone has soft texture with fresh pieces of peach and generous glaze of creamy icing that balances all of the flavors together. There are also plenty of butter-cream iced Goodman goodies to choose from. Mrs. Goodman’s was featured on the Ohio Public television show, Our Ohio. The bakery is currently expanding the customized cake, cupcake, and cutout cookie decorations.

I love their cakes. We get one every year for my daughter’s birthday…

I was so disappointed with the cake from Mrs. Goodmans. I purchased for daughter’s graduation and when I cut into it, it was the crumbliest, driest cake I have ever boughten. I was embarrassed serving this to my guests. I had heard good things about this bakery and thought I was getting a great cake. I don’t think I or anyone else at our party will ever get a cake from there!

  3. I recently discovered the best bakery ever. It is in Gahanna and I assume it is extremely new. The name is “The Bread Basket” Website = http://www.gahannabreadbasket.com/

I seriously got the biggest fresh made scone in my entire life there. It was mixed berry – strawberries, blueberries and wildberries. The berries were so juicy and still had berry consistency. While I waited for my other coworkers to order, I got a whole slice of zucchini bread for free as a sample. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE!!!

I am sure that Mrs. Goodman’s would have gladly given you another cake or refunded your money for the dry cake. They are wonderful, kind people. It is unheard of for them to make a dry cake, but if they would have known about it, I’m sure they would do whatever it takes to make it right. They are a wonderful bakery and have great products. Always fantastic cakes and pies.

Mrs. Goodman’s did my wedding cake and it was fantastic. For a very reasonable price, they made a beautiful, delicious cake with different flavors on each layer. Best of all, I asked them to work fresh flowers onto the top and sides of the cake and their arrangement was stunning. Whoever delivered the cake must have spent an hour arranging those flowers both on the cake and around the table.
